Hemiwedge Products

The Hemiwedge® Cartridge Valve is an innovative design that incorporates the positive features of ball, gate, plug, and high performance butterfly valves.  The result is a mechanically sealed, tight shut off valve with a simple operation that provides outstanding longevity, performance and cost effectiveness.  It performs successfully in most applications where high-integrity quarter-turn ball valves, expanding gates valves, rising stem ball valves, or high integrity plug valves are used, in a broad range of applications with virtually no maintenance.

The Hemiwedge® Mechanical Seal

Unlike traditional designs with a rotating ball or plug, the Hemiwedge® Cartridge valve is designed with a tapered hemispherical closure member – The Hemiwedge® - which rotates around a stationary core and wedges mechanically against the valve seat to provide a bubble-tight shut-off in either high or low pressures with repeatable zero leakage. The stationary core within the Hemiwedge® Cartridge protects the seals and seating surfaces from media flow, providing greatly increased service life and reliability.

Innovative Cartridge Design

The Hemiwedge® Cartridge Valve’s defining feature is its cartridge design, whereby all the valve’s internal parts (core, hemi, seat, stem, bushing) are affixed to the bonnet and may be removed by simply unbolting the bonnet fasteners and lifting the cartridge from the valve body.  No special tools are required. Rapid replacement results in incredible maintenance cost savings and minimizes downtime.
