Reliable Mechanical Wedge Seal

Unlike traditional designs with a rotating ball, plug or disc, the HCV, FCV and EBV product lines are designed with an engineered offset on the HEMIspherical closure member – the HEMI - which rotates around a stationary core and wedges mechanically against the valve seat to provide a bubble-tight shut-off in either high or low pressures with repeatable zero leakage. The HEMI mechanically wedges against the seat to provide a bubble-tight shutoff in both directions at low and high pressure differentials. Standard seat designs suitable up to 600 deg F.

Stationary Fixed Core

The stationary fixed core directs the fluid flow straight through the valve without taking multiple paths that contribute to premature seal failure. The core aids in protecting the seat during initial opening and final closing when fluid velocities are at their greatest. Because the core directs fluid through the valve it greatly reduces the effects of erosion and corrosion in the body.

Double Isolation & Bleed

Double Isolation and Bleed (DIB)  is defined as “a single valve with two seating surfaces, each of which, in the closed position, provides a seal against pressure from a single source, with a means of venting/bleeding the cavity between the seating surfaces.”  The Chromatic DOV is designed to provide two mechanical wedge seals to perform the DIB function.  The body cavity of the DOV is equipped with a relief system that will allow body pressure to relieve and equalize with the upstream side of the valve.  Other options are available for the DOV relief system to include pressure gauges or leak off tubes for draining the body.

Dual Mechanical Wedge Seal

Using the same wedge seal technology developed with the HCV, Chromatic extended that technique to a fully round DOV HEMI with two opposing mechanical offsets. The DOV is designed with Dual Mechanical Wedge Seals allowing the valve to exert equal force on each seat with no assistance from line pressure or seat springs. The DOV will seal in either direction and even if one seat does not function properly the other seat will block pressure.
